Hey everyone, I'm Becky. I'm a mother of two little girls, a wife and a fundraiser. I have no idea how I manage to balance it all. Actually, I don't balance well, but I sure as hell try. This blog is mainly an outlet to talk frankly about the impossible job of "balancing" my life.
For the past 18 years I have worked for different nonprofit organizations. Everything from Make-A-Wish to a children's shelter and a local NPR station. I'm currently working for an amazing organization called Spy Hop, a digital arts after-school program for teens. Working in the nonprofit world has always been a passion of mine and I can't imagine doing anything else.
In my "spare" time I enjoy baking, running, yoga, drinking wine, dreaming about autumn, listening to Hamilton, going out to dinner and writing. I could nap every single day of my life. I fantasize about traveling and always wish I was in London. I love watching TV shows and am always willing to chat about the latest show I am binge watching. I also love to read and puzzle. I am a planner. I love putting together parties and gatherings. I typically mix all groups of my people together. But I also like structure and routine. I lead the most organized life I know how to. Weekends are spent meal-planning, scheduling and cleaning. I am obsessed with list-making. I'm quirky but loving. I am a fierce and loyal friend. A defender of social inequality and extremely outspoken. I love a good conversation about politics, religion or current events. I think this blog will show that I'm really open and vulnerable. I often say too much and am a wide-open book.
My husband Seth and I have been together for 15 years and married for 10 years. Seth is a hard working Physician Assistant and an avid runner and biker. He can build and fix just about anything. He loses himself in projects and it's hard to pull him away from the task at hand. He makes a mean pear-torte and teaches me how to be a better cook. He's a worrier and is very empathetic. He's a total food snob, a high-pitched laugher and a wonderful husband and father.
Millie (8) and Matilda (5) are the loves of my life. Millie looks exactly like me. She's intense, incredibly bright, strong-willed and imaginative. She loves to escape into a world of toys and make-believe. She's a wonderful artist, actress and singer. She is smart and aware of current events. She'll happily share her opinion of Trump with you. Strong-willed children are hard to raise, but make amazing adults right? She's hard now, but I know she will grow up and be even more extraordinary.
Matilda looks exactly like her daddy but she is 100% a momma's girl. She's the family clown and is constantly making us laugh. She's easy-going, obsessed with sweets, and her bunny and zippy. She's the most content when she is playing outside. Dirt, snow, puddles, sticks and rocks make her happier than pretty much anything. She is snuggly and sweet but full of spirit. She's a dare-devil and extremely active.
I'm continually in awe of these little creatures we made. They are so completely different and I am so lucky to be their mom.
